Welcome to the membership page of Nebraska Safari Club. We are the local chapter of Safari Club International. While the activities of Safari Club International and the Nebraska Chapter are many and varied, our primary purpose is to insure that you and your children have the right to enjoy hunting in the future. Since you have taken the time to look us up we certainly hope that you will take this opportunity to become a member of SCI and the Nebraska Chapter so that you can be a part of our mission.

With a membership in SCI and the Nebraska Chapter each year you will get six issues of Safari Magazine, twelve issues of Safari Times, regular e-mail updates, and our local chapter news letter. You will also get information on our local chapter activities which include a spring shoot, a summer barbeque and our annual convention. As a member of the Nebraska Chapter of Safari Club International you should be more than just a subscriber to a magazine. This Chapter should be a meaningful organization for you. We will give you the opportunity to be active and make a positive contribution to the world of hunting. The Chapter will do it’s best to give you things that you need and you should be ready to accept the opportunities offered. We can be of great service to you in making your dream hunts come true. You should also be ready and willing to give of your time, effort and sometimes money to make beneficial things happen. The Nebraska Chapter continues to make new efforts to get you more involved so please if you join please take advantage of these opportunities.

Our next annual convention will take place at Embassy Suites in LaVista, Nebraska, on January 14 and 15, 2011. This location is next to the Cabela’s just off of Interstate 80. Mike Rogers will be in attendance and will speak to the group on at least two occassions. He will have a booth among our exhibitors so you may be able to talk individually with him there. The purpose of the convention is to provide a good time for the members and to raise funds to support hunting and the other programs of SCI The Board of Directors is making every effort to bring in more outfitters and exhibitors to expand the opportunities open to our membership.

As a member we would hope that you would take advantage of this opportunity to come and do business with the exhibitors that have invested their time and money to come to our convention. As a member you could recommend an outfitter or exhibitor to the Board for inclusion at the convention. You could also volunteer your time to assist with the activities of the Chapter. We actually do a variety of things including the Sensory Safari, aid to the sheep in western Nebraska, and financial assistance to hunting related events around Nebraska. Our Summer BBQ will be held on August 7, 2010 at the Poehling residence at Woodcliff near Fremont.

We are continuing our local dinner program this year These dinners are informal gatherings which serve to bring Nebraska SCI into your area and allow you to meet other members that live close to you. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet and exchange stories and get to know each other. These dinners will not have auctions to echo in your ears so you can just engage in quiet conversation. Some of the dinners may include a presentation of photos from past hunts so you would want to bring along some pictures. Your meal, ordered from the menu, will be your only expense. We do not intend to have raffles or any other fund raising efforts at these dinners but we are hoping that you will come and bring along a friend and encourage them to become a member As as member you would have the opportunity to host a dinner in your area.

The Cabela’s Gift Certificate program for new members is still in effect for the calendar year 2010. A new member is one that has not been a member of SCI for at least one year. This is a wonderful opportunity to join SCI and later to bring your friends into SCI. If you or your friend invest $55.00 you will get a one year membership in SCI and the Nebraska Chapter. In about six weeks you will receive a $50.00 gift certificate from Cabela’s which lowers your cost of the first year to only $5.00. If you renew for the second year the total cost will be $65.00 per year. A new member application is available here for you to download and print so that you can use the hard copy to apply for membership. You should leave the “sponsor” portion of the application blank unless another SCI member is in fact sponsoring you. It is very important that you send the membership application to Wayne E. Janssen along with a check for $55.00 made payable to SCI. The only way to receive the $50.00 gift certificate and the free one year Nebraska Chapter membership is to send the application to Wayne. Please mail the applications to: Wayne E. Janssen, 9200 Merryvale Dr., Lincoln, NE 68526 . You can contact Wayne at (402) 488-6620 or tf121469@hotmail.com for more information on other forms of membership including life membership and sponsorship.

We hope this brief message has gotten your attention and that you will be willing to give us a try. We need your assistance in order to carry on our mission. We hope that our mission is also yours and that you will join us in making all of our dreams come true.
